# Consent

Patient consent is required before services can proceed to billing. Each consent remains valid for 12 months from the date it was given.

* The API will include an `expiresAt` field indicating the expiration date.

* The `status` field will tell you if the consent is `ACTIVE`, `EXPIRING_SOON`, or `EXPIRED`.

* If consent is expired, related services will be automatically routed to triage until consent is renewed.

To update consent, submit a new attestation using the appropriate API endpoint or dashboard.

## Required Consent Language

Bridge provides required consent language during onboarding. If you need updated consent documents or templates, contact the Bridge team.
